Scotland

Much awaited trip and holiday to Scotland and London. These are the Scotland photos.

Straight Line of Tall Points of Edinburgh from Carlton Hill. Dugald Stewart Monument, The Balmoral Hotel, Scott Monument, St Johns’s Church… This arrangement easily caught my eye.

Scott Monument from North Bridge. The Scott Monument always catches my attention from many view points in Edinburgh. By itself, it seemingly gives a gothic feel to the entire city.

King Charles II of House Stuart (the “Merry King”?). Found at the Edinburgh Parliament House, Old Town. The sun was shining brightly from the right. Wanted to create the effect of light shining into the darkness.

Palace of Holyroodhouse. The Queen’s residence in Scotland. They block off people from entering this central yard, which allowed me to to shoot this with no blockage. Wanted to create a cold and secluded effect (the place was quite well visited though).

Queen’s view near Pitlochry. Queen Isabella (14th Century) and Victoria (in 1866) visited here. Views were breathtaking. I ended up here quite impromptu as it was not on my original itinerary.

Ruthven Barracks. If you happen to be nearby, this is certainly worthy of a stop for photography. Waited for the crows to start flying. Added the vignetting to give it a dark and gloomy effect. That this was taken close to evening helps in doing the scene.

View of Chanonry Point from Fort George. Soften the picture to create a dreamy effect of the nice view.

View from Hiking Ben Nevis. Not the top, but part of the route. It was a day mostly rainy and cold. As we descended, the weather got warmer and brighter and this view appears to break the gloom, which was indeed the feeling when taking the shot.

Beautiful view for romantic mood. View of Loch Shiel at Glenfinnan Monument. Saw the couple and wanted to shoot a romantic shots of them from behind. As if to fulfil my wishes, they started kissing 😊. Considered doing B/W for this, but I retain colour to bring out the background and make the couple more subdue, which I feel brings out the feeling of the title better.

IR Shot of Loch Shiel. Like this scenic shot.

Famous Glenfinnan Viaduct. Could not get a ride on it. But made the trip out from Fort William to see this famous view. It was crowded where we were too.

View along Altnafeadh. The vastness of Scotland amazed me. It is not a large country. But views of the land at this area seem endless. With internet and modern communications, it is said and easy to think that the world has gotten very small. But it is easy to underestimate problems and issues when you forgot the fact that the world is really large and vast.

A penny for your thoughts? On a cruise from Balloch along Loch Lomond.

Maid of the Loch at Balloch. Shot from near Balloch Castle. Like the misty feeling.

Just like the shot. This lady simply catches my attention. Could be due to right beauty, clothes, movement and background combination.

Risky Shot. Brought out my lens ball in a relatively bright light. But managed to get this shot, this scene with a dog hopping around excitedly. And 2 mini starburst.

Swan Swan how are you? Shot at park around Balloch Castle.
